Ricci was initially recognized and praised as a kid actress, for her performance as the character Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (2000) and Kat Harvey as seen in Casper (1995). Ricci's journey into roles for adults started with The Ice Storm in 1997 The Ice Storm it was followed by her critically acclaimed performance as The Opposite of Sex in 1998. For this performance, Ricci was awarded a Golden Globe nod for Best Actress. She continued to be successful with her appearances on Sleepy Hollow (1998) and Monster (2003).
